boards navigation

There are a number of different "levels" throughout the My Way Message Boards, from Categories to Forums to Thread. They are all designed to help you find your way to a specific Message.

Boards home page
Here's where it all starts. From the main Message Boards home page, you can click on any number of Forum Categories (like Autos, Parenting or Travel). These Category links will take you to the appropriate Forum's Category page. Beneath these links on the Message Board home page, however, you'll notice a few other smaller links - these will take you to the actual Forums themselves.

Category Page
After selecting a Category from the Boards home page, you can now jump straight to a Forum by clicking on one of the Forum links immediately below the Category name.

Now that you've selected your Category, you're ready to pick a Forum. In addition to seeing a list of many Message Forums, you'll notice two other columns: "Threads" and "Last Post."

 •  The Threads column displays the number of different Threads that are currently active in that specific Forum.
 •  Last Post tells you the exact date and time when the last message was posted within that forum. Simply click on one of the Forum names to link to that Forum page.

Forums Page
Once you've selected a single Forum, either from the home page or from one of the Category pages, you're almost there. On the Forums page itself, you'll notice five main columns: Thread, Starter, Replies, Last Post and Read.

 •  The Threads column lists all the different threads related to that specific forum. You can either create your own thread (click on "Post New thread") or select one that interests you from the list.
 •  The Starter column simply lists the user who created that Thread.
 •  The Replies column displays the number of replies that are currently active in that specific Thread.
 •  The Last Post Column lists the exact date and time when the last message was posted within that Thread.
 •  The Read column contains three options for any thread that has at least 1 reply: All, Last and Rev. Clicking these links, as opposed to the main Thread name, will affect how you view the actual Messages.

Thread Page
Depending on how you arrived at the Thread page (either by clicking on the Thread name or the "All," "Last" and "Rev." links next to the Thread name), you'll see a few different views on this page.

If you clicked on "All," then every Message will be fully displayed here for you to read. If you selected "Last" or "Rev." you'll see the most recent Message, followed by a numbered list of replies to that Message at the bottom of the page. The order of the other messages will either be oldest-to-newest or newest-to-oldest depending upon which link you clicked. To Navigate through all the Messages, you can click on either the "First," "Previous," "Next," or "Last" links.

To switch between the two viewing modes while you're reading a message, just click on the "Expand" or "Collapse" links on the page. You can also sort the messages in Ascending or Descending order, depending on how you wish to follow the message flow.

posting a message

If you would like to contribute to a discussion, you can post a thread in one of the My Way Message Forums.

Navigate to the Forum Topic that you're interested in, and then click on the "Post" button at the top of the Message window. On the Posting template, fill in your e-mail address if you want people who read your message to know it, then type in a subject in the "Subject" field.

Click on the large "Message" box and type away! You can add all sorts of formatting (like Bold, Italics, Underline, fonts and font size), as well as smiley face emoticons, by checking off the "Rich Text Format" box and then pressing the appropriate buttons. (Note: This format functionality is currently only available for Internet Explorer.)

When you're all done, just click the "Post" button to post your Message to the My Way Boards.

Note: To post on the My Way Boards, you'll need to update your Profile to include a contact email address. We ask for this additional information to enhance the quality of the board posts we receive, and to allow us to communicate to a Board participant in the event of an inappropriate post. In the event that you lose your My Way password, you can also use this contact email address to receive a new Password from us. replying to a message

While you're reading a Message to which you'd like to reply, simply click on the "Reply" button in the Message.

On the Reply template, fill in your e-mail address if you want people who read your message to know it. The subject will already be filled in for you since you're replying to a previously written article.

Then, just click on the large "Message" box and type away! You can add all sorts of formatting (like Bold, Italics, Underline, fonts and font size), as well as smiley face emoticons, by checking off the "Rich Text format" box and then pressing the appropriate buttons. (Note: This formatting functionality is currently only available for Internet Explorer.)

When you're all done, just click the "Post" button to post your Message to the My Way Boards.

ignore user

If you wish to ignore comments from a particular user, just click on the "Ignore this User" link. No matter what Forum you are in, all messages from any users on your ignore list will never be displayed for you. If you later change your mind and would like to see those messages, all you have to do is click on the "Ignore User Options" link. From there, you can remove people from your ignore list, turn off ignore completely, or view posts for users on your ignore list.
